IEAS academician Prof. Wei Deng is awarded Honorary Life Membership of Nepal Geographical Society

introduction:The Awarding Ceremony for honorary life membership of Nepal Geographical Society is held 21st April in Kathmandu, Nepal. Prof. Upendra Man Mall, former president of the Society and Prof. Narendra Raj Khanal, president of the Society and Dean at Tribhuvan University co-present Honorary Life Membership to Prof. Wei Deng, former Director and researcher of Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, CAS in recognition of his outstanding achievements in geographical research and contribution to the development of Nepal's geography.

    The Awarding Ceremony for honorary life membership of Nepal Geographical Society is held 21st April in Kathmandu, Nepal. Prof. Upendra Man Mall, former president of the Society and Prof. Narendra Raj Khanal, president of the Society and Dean at Tribhuvan University co-present Honorary Life Membership to Prof. Wei Deng, former Director and researcher of Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, CAS in recognition of his outstanding achievements in geographical research and contribution to the development of Nepal''s geography.




    Deng has been dedicating to south Asian geographic research for decades. He has hosted dozens of international cooperation projects in CAS and MOST, and published Chinese-English monographs, such as Land cover change and its eco-environmental responses in Nepal. He has been promoting the technology cooperation of Sino-Nepal Joint Research Center for Geography, and the construction of the south Asian technology cooperation network. He has been contributed significantly to the development of science and technology cooperation between China and South Asia, especially Nepal.




    Founded in 1961, Nepal Geographical Society aims to promote the development of geography through research, communications, discussions and publications. Moreover, the Society has been awarded the membership of International Geographical Union on the 14th general assembly of the council of International Geographical Union who has more than 300 members.
